There are a few different well know types of baccarat.

Simply "Baccarat" or "Big Table Baccarat" is played on a large size table and the minimum table bet is high. A baccarat table is around 4 meters with up to 3 casino staff and up to 12 players. Mini baccarat has the same rules as big table baccarat except the dealer turns over all the cards, not hiding any of their values, to speed up the pace of the game. Also the table is smaller, similar to a blackjack sized table for up to 8 people. Some casinos also use the term Midi baccarat - it sounds fancy and usually is located in the high limit areas. A game of baccarat has lots of excitement to offer its players. Its a rather simple game and seems to go in streaks so players appear to be winning easily! Baccarat has a low house edge 0.36% and at the highest 1.06%, depending on the amount of decks used. The objective of Baccarat is to draw a two- or three-card hand that totals closer to 9 than the banker. In baccarat, 10, J, K, Q count as 0, A is a 1 and all other cards are face value. If the hand total is more than ten, you drop the ten. So a card value of 16 means 6.

The name "Chemin de Fer" describes baccarat as its typically known in France. In Chemin de Fer, six decks of cards are used. Play begins after the cards are shuffled, to the right of the croupier and play moves counterclockwise. The player to the left cuts the deck to begin play. One player is designated as "banker" and deals the cards. The others are referred to as "player"". The position of banker passes counterclockwise in the course of the game. The banker then decides the wager amount and the other players, in order, then decide to bet with the bank or against it. If the total of the bets from the players are greater than the bank, the banker may choose to increase the bank to match. The banker then deals four cards face down: two for himself and two for the players. The player with the biggest bet then stands up to represent the players as a whole. This is where it gets exciting when your on the casino floor! Next, the banker and player both look at their cards and if either has an eight or a nine, if so a natural win can be announced. If neither hand is an eight or nine, the player has the choice to accept or refuse a third card. The third card is dealt face-up and the player must accept a card if its hand totals between 0 and 4. The player will always refuse a card if the total hand value is 6 or 7. After the player makes his decision, the banker in turn decides either to accept or to refuse another card and the same scenario plays out. If the player's hand exceeds the banker's hand when they are compared, each wagering player receives back their bet and a matching amount from the bank, and the position of banker passes to the next player in order. If the banker's hand exceeds the player's hand, all bets are won by the banker. If there is a tie, bets remain as they are for the next hand. Baccarat Rules - How to play and when cards are drawn in baccarat

The following baccarat rules generally apply when you play baccarat at an online casino.

• The banker and the player each draw two cards.
• If either the player or banker draw a total of 8 or 9, the hand automatically stands.
• If the player's total is 6 or 7, the player stands. If the player stands, the banker hits on a total of 5 or less. If the player's total is 5 or less, the player automatically hits and the banker gives the player a third card.
• If the player receives a third card then the banker draws a third card according to the following:
Banker's hand totals 0,1,2: Banker always draws a third card.
Banker's hand totals 3: Banker draws if Player's third card is 1-2-3-4-5-6-7-9-0 (not 8)
Banker totals 4: Banker draws if Player thirds 2-3-4-5-6-7
Banker 5: Banker draws if Player thirds 4-5-6-7
Banker 6: Banker draws if Player thirds 6-7
Banker 7: Banker stands.
• Once the final cards are dealt, the one with the total closest to 9 wins.
• A tie is possible and in this case all bets are returned
• There are only three baccarat betting options available, 'player', 'banker' and 'tie'
